System Announcements

  • Zoom - security update (Wednesday, July 15, 2026)
    Dear Campus Community,
We would like to inform you of an upcoming change to our Zoom environment.
To enhance security, privacy, and the overall meeting experience, Zoom will no longer allow participants to invite or connect third-party note-taking applications to meetings. This change will prevent external note-taking tools from joining Zoom meetings as participants.
    What This Means for You
    • Third-party note-taking apps will no longer be able to join Zoom meetings.
    • If you need meeting notes or summaries, please use Zoom AI Companion Meeting Notes, Zoom's built-in note-taking solution.
    • No action is required from most users.
Why This Change Is Being Made
This change helps protect meeting content and sensitive university information by reducing the use of external applications that may have different data handling, storage, and privacy practices.
Zoom AI Companion Meeting Notes is FERPA-compliant when used within our institution's Zoom environment and approved settings. In contrast, many third-party note-taking applications may store data outside of university-approved systems and may not meet FERPA or institutional privacy requirements.
By using Zoom's built-in note-taking capabilities, the university can provide a more secure, compliant, and consistent experience for meeting participants while helping safeguard student information and other sensitive data.
    Transitioning to Zoom AI Companion
If you currently use a third-party note-taking application with Zoom, please plan to transition to Zoom AI Companion Meeting Notes prior to this change. The built-in tool provides automated meeting summaries, key discussion points, action items, and notes without requiring an external participant to join the meeting.
If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk.
    Thank you,
